The Call — Every Second Counts
A report came in about a missing swimmer near Bob Wentz Park in Lake Travis. Witnesses said the swimmer went under and never resurfaced. The clock starts. The local first responding team arrived in minutes and began a traditional grid-based search pattern of the swim area lasting approximately 15 minutes. The mutual aid responding team then arrived with AquaEye and deployed it immediately.

Deploy – Immediate Response with AquaEye
With visibility limited and time critical, the rescue team deployed AquaEye using long-range scanning mode. The first scan, detected the victim at a distance of 40m in less than one minute.
15:05
Scan – Pinpointing the Target
Three rescue swimmers entered the water and got ready for action while a second scan was completed with AquaEye confirming target location at 40m.
16:12
Action – Focused Rescue, Victim Reached
Rescue swimmers were deployed and directed towards the confirmed target and began shallow dives. On the second dive, swimmers located the victim in a pike position at 12 feet depth. Within five minutes of AquaEye deployment, the victim was brought to the surface with a weak pulse and CPR was initiated by the paramedic team on shore. Unfortunately, the individual succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
19:53
Outcome – A Swift but Difficult Rescue
AquaEye outperformed traditional search methods and found a drowning victim in five minutes. Had the first responding team been equipped with AquaEye, perhaps the outcome could have been different.
First responders have one hour before a rescue mission becomes a recovery. AquaEye was proven as a vital water rescue system that helps first responders get the job done.
